On the Hunt for Koroks in the Surface/Depths

Now that we’ve beat BotW, we move on to TotK. New story, new mechanics, and some new characters — but at the end of it all, there are a lot of the same faces we’ve come to know and love, time shifted over about 5 years.

Are we ready to delve into the depths and soar into the skies for this new story? Let’s find out on today’s livestream!

After a short time, we reconvened with Purah. She explained that the lands of the other tribes (more or less) had experienced the effects of the Uprising as well. Hebra, Lanayru, Eldin, and Gerudo all are rumored to be more impacted by the Uprising too and checking out these areas may prove useful in saving Zelda. In addition, she also introduced us to the Skyview Tower (an interesting contraption to say the least).

With geographical knowledge of the area, we turned our attention to Robbie and Josha. Josha had a slate with a figure on it and wanted to go check out the area in the underground; an area filled with Gloom. Robbie at first was overprotective of her, but after some talking, we compromised on him and us setting out to the underground to take a picture for Josha. Robbie headed out (unabashedly and recklessly) to the underground entrance (a chasm) with nothing but a survey team; no prep for the Gloom or anything.

After some time, we make it to the chasm that Robbie pointed out. Not only was the survey team there, but a separate camp for the Monster Control Crew Squad #1 was also there. There were a pair of people who explained that Hoz and company were off clearing out a monster stronghold, and that we should join them. That’s great, but we had an old man to save… so down into the lightless depths we jumped.

In the depths, we experienced firsthand the dangers of the Gloom… a substance that not only ate weapons, but depleted maximum life force. There were also creatures, both old and new, that had adapted to the Gloom or otherwise were born from it. There were also gigantic roots with glowing orbs nestled within them that served as light sources once activated. In the midst of all this wonder and danger, we found Robbie, who showed us how to use our unlocked camera (after he unlocked it back on the surface). We took a picture of the statue and then reported our findings to Josha. She was excited with the breakthrough in discoveries and we were rewarded for helping her.

With that little adventure over, we now return to scouring the lands we’ve uncovered for those tediously placed Koroks.
